Comments:

The study describes the development of a novel model of cerebral ischemia in larval zebrafish. Embedded larvae exposed to hypoxic medium displayed interrupted cerebral and dorsal aorta blood flow. Hypoxia-reoxygenation (H/R) treatment induced cerebral ischemia-reperfusion, followed by neuronal death and gliosis. This ischemia model, once fully established, may be used in the study stroke and other related pathologies.
